House Of Gigs (http://www.houseofgigs.com) in conjunction with DreamCon(http://www.dreamcon.net) is pleased to announce the first Florida appearance of the multi-talented artist Voltaire.
Voltaire (http://www.voltaire.net) is perhaps best known for his stop-motion station IDs for MTV, Sci-Fi Channel, and USA Networks, among others. He is also a talented singer/songwriter. His musical style comes from a mix of Goth and European Folk music.
Voltaire has released 4 albums (The Devils Bris 1997, Almost Human 1999, Boo Hoo 2000, and Banned On Vulcan 2000) with another CD rumored to be on the way.
Voltaire has also released several graphic novels and comic books including Oh My Goth, Humans Suck, and Chi-Chian. The latter title was turned into a mini-series for the Sci-Fi.com web site.
Voltaire will be appearing with Tampa, FL based Yeti and several other independent and local bands to be named at a later time.
House Of Gigs (http://www.houseofgigs.com) is a website dedicated to getting local musicians heard and promoted through the Internet. The House Of Gigs website is where Musicians, Bands, Venues and Fans can find resources for setting up gigs, buying and selling equipment, checking out the latest music news, and much more.
DreamCon (http://www.dreamcon.net) is a full three-day multi-genre convention being held at the Adams Mark in Jacksonville, FL June 11th-13th, 2004. Tracks will feature Science Fiction, Fantasy, Comic Books, Horror, Anime, Gaming, Technology, and Music. There will also be two 24-hour Anime rooms, two 24-hour Gaming rooms, an Art Show, and a Charity Auction. With over 45,000 sq ft of convention space and a 15,000 sq ft Dealers’ Room, DreamCon will be the largest hotel based convention of its kind in the entire state of Florida. Anticipated attendance is 3,000-5,000.
Guests of DreamCon include Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Beauty & the Beast, Blade II), Brian Thompson (X-files, Buffy), Gary Graham (Enterprise, Alien Nation), Tony Amendola (Stargate: SG1), Erin Gray (Buck Rogers), as well as comic book creators Peter David and Don Perlin, Sci-Fi authors Larry Niven and Dr. Jerry Pournelle, plus many more.
DreamCon and House Of Gigs are trying to raise $ 20,000 for DreamCons Primary Charity, the American Diabetes Association, as well as other deserving organizations.
